MonteneroVillage.it Future home to a multimedia time capsule of a small town in southern Italy. To be sealed August 2005. Proposals for projects welcomed. Mission Statement: To create a time capsule documenting the end of centuries-old traditions of a small Italian village, Montenero Valcocchiara, located in Molise. This time capsule will be approached much as the first documented time capsule in 1939: by collecting objects (photos, tools, etc.), stories, and diagrams that illustrate contemporary and past culture for future generations. Although there is a shared methodology between old and new, this project will not be a sealed, inert object. Rather, this project will exist online at montenerovillage.it -- unsealed by visitors upon arrival. This burial site provides a range in presentation styles and viewing access for future generations of Monteneresi worldwide. Artists, journalists, and residents are invited to contribute to the project, with the ultimate goal of providing a breadth of views of the town's traditional and changing culture.
